Pictures XXI:

Elementary Course:
From the training-course at Gardermoen. A break in the training.

Elementary Course 2:
From the training-course at Gardermoen. Freshmen listening to advices given by one of the veterans.

Armed elements (?)
This is me, dressed upp as what we belived an “Armed Element” would look like if we met him out on patrole.
Funny enough, we met some of these live, and our imagination proved out to be quite correct !

Visiting Card:
A very popular item among the soldiers, hehe...
But if anyone got laid after giving away one of these, I really don’t know !!!

Checkpoint Duty:
Many hours went by doing duty at the checkpoints. This is a picture from 4-2 A Cp, where I’m checking up on Hani, one of the GSS members in the area.

Old 4-2 A Cp:
This is the old 4-2 Alpha Checkpoint wich stood directly outside Ebl Es Saqi. For security reasons the Cp was moved furter outside the city-limits, and this old slogger was demolished by one of our APC’s driving right trough it...

4-1 Foxtrot Op:
This old Op-”tower” down in Hazbani Walley was quite popular... Many hours spendt getting a tan, as Karlsen is giveing a good demonstration of. But the damn tower was filled to the edge by spiders of all sizes, whom I HATED !

MG3:
Firing 17-22 shots pr second, our 7,62x51 MG3 machinegun would come quite in handy when needed. We had a lot of them ! This one just returned together with me from an escort trip from Norbatt to Etaibe (Finbatt). Not our usual sidearm, but sometimes we had to improvize...

Morning glory 1:
Sjur Bjørdalen looking out of his sleeping-bag up at the mountain 4-14 one early morning. Some israeli forces wanted to make an artillery platform there, wich we didn’t aprove...

Morning glory 2:
Same position a little later on. The sun is rising over APC 8-1 and our Carl Gustaf 84 mm recoilless cannon Though the mood was real tence a few hours earlier, no one must tell me that this isn’t a picture with atmosphere !

Morning glory 3:
Sunrise over Ebl Es Saqi and the APC Platoon.

Communication Shelter:
Our communication-central was placed under ground. One soldier on duty at all times, sending and reciving all kinds of information. He also had the job of alerting the troops when trouble was ahead. Honestly, that rising and falling sound of air-sirens still is in me...

Israeli supply-camp:
Right outside the Norwegian AO, the israelis had one of their camps supplying  themselves and the israeli-supported arab forces with materiel needed. A lot of tence episodes to tell from this place...

Sven Hazel:
In a gravel pit somewhere at Falkhøyden, we spendt some time reading during a yellow alert. As you can see, improvization here too... My matress is the ammo !

Fog:
The fog could be a real killer sometimes...
Not easy to find your way trough this soup !

Effective:
Our healt-personell must be of the more effective soldiers I know... This sorry guy gets 3 injections at the same time !!!
