I have a little collection of links to backgammon-related information. Most of the links are to sites with general information about backgammon, but I've also got a couple of servers and some software thrown in. Should you be keen on seeing a more complete list of backgammon sites on the web try Gammon Links by Mel Leifer (courtesy of Chicago Point Online) or a search site like Yahoo (link directly to backgammon).
- The WWW Backgammon Page (US Mirror)
- Maintained by Stephen Turner this is one of what I regard as the two main backgammon sites on the WWW. Here you will find the Backgammon FAQ, where to play backgammon on the net, the Worldwide list of clubs, book reviews, and plenty of other information about backgammon and the WWW.
- Backgammon Galore!
- Tom Keith's excellent site Backgammon Galore! is the other main backgammon site. He has, amongst other things, the rules of backgammon, a glossary of backgamon terms and a collection of the best articles posted to the newsgroup rec.games.backgammon.
- Norges Backgammon Forbund (Norwegian Backgammon Federation)
- I'm a Norwegian and I think I should keep myself updated as to what is happening on the Norwegian backgammon scene. Therefore I drop by here now and then to check out the rankings and results and check to see if there's any news.
- JellyFish
- Probably the best backgammon program in the world. I use it myself and think its an invaluable tool for any serious backgammon player. It plays like an expert player and you can use it to evaluate moves and cube strategy. The biggest problem with it is that since it plays so well you might not like playing against it. I've learnt alot from playing against it and using it to evaluate and roll out moves and cubes.
- Snowie
- Probably the second best backgammon program in the world. It's a great program of world class strength with good tools for analysis (if you by the right version). If you're looking for the best backgammon software you can pick either Snowie or JellyFish, depending on which you like best.
- FIBS Homepage
- The First Internet Backgammon Server is where I first started to play backgammon online. In my opinion the best place to play backgammon online. The competition is excellent, and there is clients available for a variety of operating systems.
- Backgammon By The Bay
- Backgammon By The Bay is a club in San Francisco which has some excellent web pages. They have several matches available annotated by top players making a visit a worthwhile event.
- Webby's Backgammon Site
- Webby (Alan Webb) has a good page with a nice guiz with 10 difficult positions. Also links to good backgammon sites as well as good downloads.
- gammon.com
- Run by Patti Beadles this site has a list of matches recorded on FIBS as well as the analyzis of the dice on FIBS (people looking for evidence of skewed dice on FIBS won't find what they're looking for).
- Funcom
- Another place to play backgammon online. They have a Java-based game which means you play using your browser. If you cannot find anyone to play with you can also play against JellyFish. A good site with strategy, hints and other helpful information to get you started.
- ItsYourTurn.com
- Web-based backgammon play site which is turn-based instead of real-time. Therefore you don't need to be logged on the whole time you're playing but can instead stop by once a day to do your move.
I have also some websites I visit infrequently in my bookmarks, but I do not wish to publish all of it here due to the time it takes to make sure it's updated. As noted earlier the best place to find links is Gammon Links by Mel Leifer. Tom Keith also has several links on his site Backgammon Galore!
I hope you will enjoy your stay on the web, there's plenty of backgammon sites available giving you all the information you need.
