
On this picture you can see mount Beerenberg (2277 m). This is the world northernmost active volcano, with the last eruptions occuring in 1970 and 1984/85. The first eruption added about 3 sq. km of new land (Nylandet). There is still smoke/vapor from fumaroles and fissures in the Central Crater , and on the northern side of Beerenberg.
