THE JOY STRINGS

|
English,
religious pop-group, from the Salvation Army. Captain Joy Webb (now retired
major) started the group together with cadets of the William Booth
Memorial College for Salvation Army Officers. In the beginning the group
consisted of 8 persons, Joy Webb, Peter Dalziel and Bill Davidson playing
guitars and Wycliffe Noble on drums, together with three more girls and a
boy. After some time the group decreased to five persons, the fifth
beeing Sylvia Gair, later married to Dalziel, both now lt.-colonels. Webb
changed to keyboard and Dalziel to bass guitar. All together they released 6
singles, 5 (6?) EP’s and 2 LP’s. They were recording on Regal Zonophone, a
label later associated with Move, Procol Harum, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Joe
Cocker.
