Take a moment (really that is all you need) and work up these CUTE and FAST little treasures.
This Tiny Christmas Sock is a fast project for:
- A Christmas tree ornament,
- Decorating a Christmas gift,
- Or a little something for a friend or colleague.
Here is all the information you will need to know:
Skill level:
Easy / Intermediate
Finished Measurements:
Height: about 2 inches (5 cm). Please note this will vary depending on your gauge.
Gauge:
Not important but my gauge was:
7sts/9rows pr inch (14sts/18 rows pr 5 cm). Please note that depending on the size needles and weight of yarn used the gauge of your mittens may vary.
Yarn:
Color A: Green cotton
Color B: Red cotton
Please note that any cotton or wool will work.
Needle Size:
Double pointed needles US #1.5 (2.5mm). Please note you should use needles that fit your yarn. A handy tip is to look at the ball band of your yarn and use the suggested needle size or whatever size gives you the resulting look you want.
Crochet hook:
US B (2.5 mm) to make a Christmas Ornament.
Pattern for Tiny Christmas Socks:
Cuff and Leg:
Working in the round.
- With Color A Cast on 12 stitches.
- Divide into 3 needles (6 + 3 +3 sts) and join to work in the round. Make sure you don’t twist the stitches.
- Work K1, P1 ribbing for 2 rounds.
- Change to Color B,
- K6 rounds.
Heel:
- Knit 5 stitches, turn
- Sl1, purl 3 sts turn
- Slip the first stitch, knit to one stitch before the gap:
- Slip the stitch before the gap onto the right hand needle, pick up the bar running between the gap and put it on the right hand needle.
- Knit the slipped stitch and the picked up bar together.
- Turn, slip the first stitch, and purl to one stitch before the gap.
- Slip the stitch before the gap, pick up the bar running between the gap, and put it on the right hand needle.
- Purl the slipped stitch and the picked up bar together.

Foot:
- K7 rounds.
Toe:
- Round 1: *K1, K2tog* all around ( 8 sts)
- Round 2: knit
Cut the yarn and draw it through the stitches.
Finishing: Weave in ends.
Extra Bits:
To make a Christmas tree ornament:
· Join color A with a slip stitch to cuff of sock,
· Using a crochet hook, chain 35,
· Join to slip stitch to create ring,
· Finish off.
So much more you can do to this basic pattern! What you ask?
- Tie two or more socks together and create socks frenzy.
- Tie a sock up with a Tiny Christmas Mitten.
- Stuff them with fibrefill and seam up the opening to make it more 3 dimensional.
