Anderstorp 2001 - first tripI've just returned from four days at Anderstorp Raceway (mid June, 2001), and I'm preparing some pictures and text. Every time I'm on the track I'm learning. I'm returning to Anderstorp in late June (in about 1 1/2 week), and the most important things for me to keep working on is "gas control" and "line". I dont have enough speed out of turns (I'm not rolling the throttle hard enough through the curve - this is the only way to ride quick throug corners)). So, enter the curve in a speed you know you will make it through and get on the throttle as soon as possible (and keep it rolling through the curve). There are only single apex curves at Anderstorp. The "correct" line through each turn is the line where I can (after a "quick turn"), keep rolling the throttle through the whole turn without giving the bike more steering inputs after leaned over.
Even with the knee down, I still have plenty lean angle to go. That is, more lean angle which means more speed. I can probably get earlier and harder on the throttle (gentle of course) in the curves which means higher exit speed out of corner. Rolling the throttle through the corner ("gas control") and get the weight on the outer footpeg is cruical for traction. Before entering the turn the bike must be as stable as possible, and you should not introduce any "disturbances" on the bike just before turning. To ride a bike safe and quick trough corners take a lot of practice (at least it does for me), and it's great when you get the right line through the corner.
