This works both in Marine mode and Automotive mode, but slightly differently (see below).
Imagine you have created a route going from waypoint A to waypoint F through the waypoints B, C, D and E in a Garmin GPSmap 276C (Plus), 376C,
278,
378,
478,
296,
396 or
495/496 receiver.
On a particular day you decide to make a shortcut going directly from waypoint B to waypoint E, leaving out waypoints C and D. But you still want the route to be intact (for future use), so removing waypoints C and D from the route is not an option. There are probably more ways to do this, the one described below is short and easy to remember:
