AT FULL FORCE - (Audionics 2010-02-02)
Audionics will re-issue Fort Baxters A Hot Winter Night In Dallas, featuring the Dallas show from December 28 1976.
Using the original DAT copy of the soundboard, the sound will hopefully be slightly better than on the original CD issue.
The CD will come with a 16-page booklet.

SPRINGTIME TOURS '76 - '77 - (Audionics 2010-01-02)
Audionics has released a double CD focusing on binaural soundboards tapes from March 1976 and the official 8-track recordings made by Felton Jarvis in March, April and early May of 1977.
The Johnson City show from March 17 1976 has been mixed down to create a stereo image, while the Charlotte show from March 20 comes in true binaural.
The official 8-track recordings are sometimes more complete than the previously released onces, while five of them are new to Elvis fans.
Presented in double digipack with a 16-page booklet.

HERE COME THE STARS - (SA 2009-14-02)
Straigh Arrow has once again released an audience recording - again from Las Vegas 1976 - this time the dinner show on December 4. Originally released back in 1996 on Love Letters From Nevada.
In slightly better sound quality than the original, this show is among the better ones from this last Vegas season. A spoken version of 'What Now My Love' stands out.
The CD comes with a 16-page booklet, containing a collection of photos taken between Dec 3-7, 1976 and liner notes as written by a fan who was in the audience.

LAST STOP IN MOBILE - (RR 19770602-2)
Rainbow Records will soon release a CD featuring the June 2 concert from Mobile in 1977.
Elvis was clearly not in best shape form this day. However, he sings 'American Trilogy' for the very last time. Except for a ugly miss in the middle of the song, where Elvis lost track of track of the song, it is a nice inclusion.
A booklet will feature liner notes with information regarding the event on 20 pages in full colour!

BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME - (VP 2009-10)
Venus Productions has released their follow up to Black Angels In Vegas.
Bringing It All Back Home features two concerts recorded in Memphis. The matinee performance of March 16 1974, was Elvis' first live appearance in Memphis since 1961 and was first released on Hello Memphis!. The second CD features Elvis' concert at the Mid-South Coliseum in 1975. This was first made available on Let Me Take You Home.
The concert now comes in a little more complete form and without any addition of reverb or any other sound gimmicks as found on its preceedor.
The package comes in a beautiful full color, hardcover book with many pictures and liner notes, spread over 132 pages!

DAYTON RELOADED - (Boxcar)
Also International found the urge to re-issue two Dayton shows from October 6 1974. Released in co-operation with DAE on the new Boxcar label.
The sound quality is - as with A Day In Dayton - quite good. You can hear that DAE has been working on the tapes. With the aftenoon show it doesn't do the trick, while the evening show benefits from a "analogue" reverb. In general the DAE treatment works best with tapes of poorer sonic quality, in my opinion. Boxcar is not as good as Gravel on the afternoon show, but perhaps more listenable on the evening show. A matter of taste.
The accompanying hardback book contains 100 pages featuring a detailed essay on the tours of 1974 proceeding up to October, with rare photos.

A DAY IN DAYTON - (GR CD 7401-2/7402-2)
Gravel Road has re-issued two Dayton shows from October 6 1974. Originally released on two different bootlegs many years ago, namely as CD-3 on A Profile Vol. 2 and Breathing Out Fire.
The sound quality is quite good. As for the aftenoon show it is equal to the original - not better - found on the Profile box set. The evening show is significantly better than on Breathing Out Fire, though still not as good as the first show, and far from perfect.
No booklet this time.

THE FINAL HOMECOMING - (Audionics/FB)
Audionics has once again coupled with Fort Baxter for this new upgrade. Elvis' last concert in his hometown Memphis has been going through the "re-issue formula". First released by Fort Baxter on Goodbye Memphis, this upgrade contains only the Memphis show.
The sound quality is noticeably better than the original release. This is probably the soundboard without much tweaking, making the sound more up-front, especially Elvis and the bass line is "heavier".

THE RETURN OF A PRODIGY - (Gravel Road GR CD 6901-2)
Gravel Road has earlier released a magnificent Plugged In And Geared Up and a less magnificent upgrade of The Brightest Star On Sunset Blvd. Out now is another upgrade, this time Opening Night '69 (For Baxter).
The August 3 DS from 1969 is the earliest known recording of good quality from Elvis' live comeback. It is a great show, in my opinion better than the shows recorded by RCA some 3 weeks later. The original release had several pauses in between songs. This is of course fixed on this release. The sound is clearer than on original, though not really better. It's a matter of taste.

LET ME BE THE ONE - (Audionics 2009-04-2)
Audionics has now released "Let Me Be The One – Behind Closed Doors". The CD contains home demos recorded in April 1974, November 1973 and 1960. Featuring a previosuly unreleased duet rendition with the group Voice of the song 'Let Me Be The One' from April 1974. This rarity is followed with the complete November 1973 home demos recorded at Sam Thompson's house.
Some of the tracks from 1960 where Elvis sings with Nancy Sharpe and Red West are featured in stereo (two microphones was used). The CD comes with a 32-page booklet.

BLACK ANGELS IN VEGAS - (Venus Productions)
A new label, called Venus Productions has re-issued Night Fever In Vegas, the August 30 Midnight show from 1974.
Two CD's housed in a coffee table book containing 84 pages with color photos and appropriate text, focusing on Elvis in 1974 and his fascination for Karate.
This release provides a sound improvement compared Night Fever In Vegas, although in my opinion just slightly off-pitched.
All in all, this is a class product and hopefully the first in line?

SHOWROOM INTERNATIONALE '71 - (International)
International has released a double CD containing two soundboard from the first Las Vegas season in 1971. "Showroom Internationale '71" contains both the January 28 Dinner show (first found on Lean, Mean And Kicking Butt) and a February 23 show from the closing day (previously unreleased).
This release provides a solid sound improvement on the previosusly released show and a great sound on the new one. International has worked together with people behind DAE and LuXor, and the sound has their label all written over it!
The previously unreleased show from February 23 is incomplete, but shows an upbeat Elvis in good vocally shape.

PLUGGED IN & GEARED UP - (Gravel Road)
Gravel Road has released a re-issue of the July 29 rehearsal in Culver City 1970. First issued on There's Always Me Vol. 4, later also found on other bootlegs.
This release provides a solid sound improvements compared to the others. The sound is crystal clears and in stereo (a little "binauralish"). There are bits and pieces not heard before, but nothing really new. Presented in a stylish way, this proves to be one of the better re-issues.

A CHANGE OF MIND - (SA 2009-13-02)
Released on the effective Straight Arrow label is another Las Vegas audience recording.
This time the dinner show from September 3 1973 is in focus. Recorded by the same person that taped the opening show from 1976 (as found on The Last Vegas Opening Night).
The sound quality is adequate.

STRANGER IN THE CROWD - (Audionics 2009-01-2)
Audionics released this multitrack recording from out of the blue. Suddenly it appeared, without any (normal) pre-announce. Stranger In The Crowd contains the dinner show from August 13 1970, a show that BMG has in their vaults.
It has been taken from a multi-track source and appears in stereo. The show is complete, though 'Sweet Caroline' had to be spliced from another show to maintain the stereo output. The mono complete version of 'Sweet Caroline' is tagged onto the end of the CD.

THE LAST VEGAS OPENING NIGHT - (SA 2009-12A/B-02)
Straight Arrow continues their releases of more or less interesting concert using high quality audience recordings tapes as source.
This marks the the last time Elvis sung 'Just Can't Help Believing'. The opening show is quite good, a week later it would be close to disaster. Then again, another few days it would be better again.
Taken from a different source than we have had before.

APRIL FOOL DINNER - (Audionics/Southern Comfort)
Southern Comfort and Audionics have released "April Fool's Dinner", containing the dinner show from April 1st 1975. Previously found on Rockin' With Elvis April Fool's Day. Taken from the original tape, the sound quality is better here.
In addition several bonus tracks are included, all taken from the Midnight show the same day. 'Big Boss Man' and 'It's Midnight' are sourced from a booth tape of the show.
The CD is presented in a beautiful 3-panel digipack.

SUNSET RUNDOWN - (Madison CWP025)
Out now is the 4th volume in the Elvis On Tour series from Madison. This CD contains the first half of the March 31 1972 rehearsal held in Studio A, Hollywood.
Madison seems to be in a no-loose situation at the moment. Looking at the content of this CD reveals that almost all tracks have been officially released by BMG - FTD. Still fans already praise this CD highly. I bet Ernst Jorgensen would like to be in the same situation with regards to fan reactions on CDs from Follow That Dream (FTD).
The artwork is fine and even though there is little new material here, it is nice to have the uncut rehearsal. The sound quality is very good!

A HILTON DOUBLE SHOT - (Madison SP 2009/01)
Madison continues their re-release program, this time also re-releasing one of their own outings. [As also happens partially with Holding Down The Forth.]
Served as a double CD digi-pack, this package contains I'll Remember You (Rock Legends) and Don't Think Twice (Madison).
The sound quality is noticeably better on the 1973 show.
The artwork and overall presentation is mighty fine.

Gravel Road Music has released an updated edition of The Brightest Star On Sunset Blvd, previously released on two different CD's by Fort Baxter.
Released as a double CD digi-pack, this new edition features the same material in slightly different sound.
The artwork is mighty fine and for those who missed the original release this one will be a competent replacement.

Rainbow Records will soon release a CD featuring the May 24 concert from Augusta in 1977.

HILLCREST BLUES - (Madison CWP 024)
Continuing on the "Elvis On Tour" material, Madison this time focus on the March 30 1972 rehearsal. A rehearsal set up as a mock studio session, for the sole purpose of letting MGM movie cameras film Elvis in studio action.
Many of the songs from this session have been released officially, like 'Always On My Mind', 'Johnny B. Goode', two takes of 'Separate Ways' and one take of 'For The Good Times'. The session was professionally recorded, and Elvis was mainly very focused. Several other bootleg CD's have covered this material, but only in so-so sound quality.
Madison presents this in much better sound quality. Not all of the session is available on this CD. Still very welcomed!

THE TALK OF THE TOWN - (Audionics/2001 2008-3)
This is the third release from the joint venture of Audionics and 2001. Talk Of The Town is an updated version of Opening Night from label 2001, released over 10 years ago.
The CD focus on the opening show from January 26 1972, excluding the bonus tracks from 1973 found on the original release. Taken from the original DAT tape, the sound is slightly better on this new release.
As for artwork and booklet; high quality.

RED HOT IN RICHMOND - (Madison CWP 023)
Madison has now released another "Elvis On Tour" concert. This time it is the Richmond show from April 10 that goes through the "re-issue program".
This is a stereo release, just like the Greensboro one. Just as interesting; this time we get the almost complete show. It has better mix than the Greensboro CD from Madison, imo, but the overall sound quality is less. Although the sound is very good, it does not match an official release.
Hopefully this new CD will not reduce the chance of getting this show on an official release in the future.

TRYING TO GET TO YOU - (SA 2008-10-02)
Straight Arrow has now released this updated version of the Rochester show from May 25 1977.

The CD comes in the classic, stylish Straight Arrow delivery.

GREENSBORO REVOLUTION! - (Madison CWP 022)
Madison has now released this updated version of the Greensboro concert. (Released many times before, most importantly on The Greensboro Concert by Triangle). It is a stereo release, not very common for bootleg CD's. Said to be mixed down from the multi-track tapes of the concert.
I'm not sure Madison had access to all channels, as the mix is a bit simple. Piano, bass and strings are less prominent than it should be and the drums are a bit too loud. However, it comes in close to perfect sound and in many ways this release is a milestone as it is the nearest you can come to an official release sound wise.
It comes with the classic Madison artwork and booklet delivery.

YOU KNOW IT DON'T HAVE TO BE STRICTLY COUNTRY (Gravel Road - GR CD 7002-2)
Gravel Road has now released this CD. It has been announced for a long time, but finally arrives.
The CD contains several acetates recordings from Nashville 1970. In the same vein as Pure Diamonds Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Released after FTD's update of both That's The Way It Is and Love Letters, it will face tough competition..:-)
The sound is fair, good for acetates. Highlight is the mix on 'Got My Mojo Working' imo, and the artwork.

ELVIS BACK WITH A BANG! - (Audionics/Fort Baxter CS1004)
Audionics has grouped with Fort Baxter for this release. "Elvis Back With A Bang!" is an updated version of CD-4 from A Profile Vol. 2.
In my point of view this is one of the most enjoying concerts ever held by Elvis. He sounds relaxed, harmonic and is totally focused on singing. His voice is stable as early 70's! The concert also has a nice line-up, with 'Fairytale', 'And I Love You So', 'Green Green Grass Of Home' and most importantly 'You're The Reason I'm Living' among others.
The sound has been restored, including a speed adjustment. As usual, the CD comes with a 16-page booklet.
