To May-Lise's
Tribute To

Since I've got so many new foreign friends after making my  Norwegian Kitaro-homepage,
I decided to re-do it in English. I also thought it would be nice with a new look on the page.
The contents are much the same, with a little extra. Kitaro's poems are in both English and
Norwegian, 'cause I think I did a great job translating them:))  The picture  below is mine,
taken after his performance in Copenhagen on March 21. -98. On the original, I stand next to
Kitaro (and see how happy it makes him!), but this page is not about me, so I left myself out!
I have great friends that have made great Kitaro pages, with lots of pictures, and you will
find links to those pages on my link-page! One of them is made in both English and Chinese!!!
Hope you will enjoy visiting all of us!

Oh, you never heard about Kitaro, you say?
Let me introduce this amazing multi-musician and composer to you!!

I 'm sure I could talk long and with huge enthusiasm about Kitaro,
but I think I'll stick to facts, so you get to know the most important things
about this great musician and wonderful composer!

He was born as Masanori Takahashi Feb 4th, 1953 in
Japan in a little town called Toyohashi.
He started to play electric guitar in a band called "Albatros" at high school.
Most of the songs were written by Kitaro, both lyrics and melodies.
Later in the -60s he started a band called " Far East Family Band"
where he played keyboard. They made two rock albums.

In 1972 he visited Europe for the first time, and there he met Klaus Schulze,
who was a real virtuoso on the synthesizer. He also met "Tangerine Dream",
one of the first bands in the "New Age" style. It was now Kitaro discovered
all the fantastic qualities of a great synthesizer!
" With that I can create all kinds of atmospheres! I can create the sea, the wind,
everything!"  And that's what he has done on every album he has made!

It didn't take long before he was well known both in Asia and in lots
of other places around the world. About 10 years ago, he moved to USA,
and since then, he has given us about 30 albums with amazing music!
He was honored with "The Golden Globe Award" for the soundtrack
of "Heaven and Earth", an Oliver Stone movie. He has been nominated for
the "Grammy Award" several times, the latest in -99 for " Gaia/Onbashira".

Kitaro has been touring in Europe a couple of times, I don't know exactly
how many, but the last time I was so lucky to see him, hear him and
meet him in Copenhagen! It was an enormously exciting experience to talk to such a great
personality as Kitaro! Not only because he is well known, but because of
the person himself!

An unforgettable evening!
