Madeira in a bottle

Let's not forget the "vinhos da Madeira". Madeiras are often referred to as dessert wine, but actually they can be served practically anywhere and at anytime.

The Madeira wines are all pure ingredients from grapes grown on the island in rich volcanic soil. Wines are pruned in February and March. Flowers appear in April and little green balls in May. Depending on the altitude, the grapes are being picked and squeezed at the one right moment in August, September or October.

Madeira grapes (uvas) are principally for winemaking. Each wine is known by the type of grape and not the vineyard.
