For the past 4 and half years ALTACO has been engaged in writing a book about Northern Luzon art. Together with CEES ZWARTENKOT ART BOOKS in Leiden, the Netherlands, this project has now been completed, and the book “IN THE SHAPE OF TRADITION: INDIGENOUS ART OF THE NORTHERN PHILIPPINES” was published in May 2010. Several well known and respected authorities on Luzon tribal art have contributed with chapters for the book. It is hoped that this book will be found useful by ALTACO members and others as a reference book.

The plan now is to renovate the ALTACO web pages that have been rendered outdated due to the long time of neglect. (It was not possible to maintain two demanding activities consecutively).

So far the following has been added:

Review of Sullivan’s biography on Worcester, June, 2010.

Kalinga Beads on June 20, 2010 (based on the CD ROM “Kalinga Costumes”)

Events was updated on August 22, 2010

News on December 13, 2010

Photographs on January 14, 2011

Museum on January 16, 2011: Bontoc Adornment, Ibaloy Adornment, Ifugao Sculpture, Ifugao Utensils, Ifugao Musical Instrument, Kalinga Weapons, Kankanay Adornment, Kankanay Utensil & Weapon

Thank you for your patience with the renovation.
