1. Lyngen
- Location: Peninsula north east of Tromsø.
- Great alpine area with big massifs and glaciers squeezed ontoa relatively small peninsula. Much loose rock. Mountaineering,summer and winter, and ski mountaineering

2. Kvaløya
- Location: Island west of Tromsø.
- Several peaks called "Hollenderan" with up to 300 m highgranite walls offering excellent climbing.

3. Lofoten
- The Lofoten Islands can offer everything: mountaineering,ski mountaineering, long granite walls, or short crag routes.

4. Tysfjord/Stetind
- Location: 80 km. SW of Narvik, close to Kjøpsvik
- The Stetind mountain with its 1300 m high north face (rising directly from sealevel) features numerous routesof varying difficulty. Steep granite direct from sea level.However, there are many other mountains to climb in this area.

5. Bodø
- Some routes, nice winter and ice climbing (frozen waterfalls)

6. Trondheim
- Numerous crags with routes of varying difficulty. Theclosest crags to the city are Korsvika and Tikneppen inBymarka with short routes. On Selnes north of Trondheim, thereis a 150m high wall with bolted routes, mainly grade 6-7.At Støren there is an 80 m. high cliff with nice routesaround grade 5.

- There are recent opened sport crags at Hell, Stavsjøfjelletand Støren with bolted routes of highest difficulty (6-9).Those crags are not yet included in the guide.
- Tindegruppa NTHI has a lodge at Selnes. To use this accomodation,a membership fee has to be paid.
7. Innerdalen
- Mountaineering, ski mountaineering and lots of routes graded at 3 - 6with 5 - 14 pitches on walls up to 400 m. height. Mostpopular for climbing areInnerdalstårnet andSkarsfjell with numerous routes. Typical approaches oftwo and a half hours. Practice crags close to "Innerdalshytta"

9. Romsdalen
- Mountaineering, ski mountaineering,and ice climbing.
- Norway's probably most famous big wall is located here; theTroll Wall, 1000 m high. Look at Artur and Rolfs Big Walls in Norway for more info.
- There are, however numerous otherclimbs in Romsdalen. Easy classical routes, e.g. on Romsdalshorn Difficult crag withmany routs on Hornaksla.

11. Eastern and central Jotunheimen
- Norway's highest mountains. Many DNT huts. Alpineclimbing in entire area, though the peaks between Gjende and Bygdin offer thebest quality of rock. Some climbs on Norway's highest mountains:Galdhøpiggen and Glittertind. Short sport crags at Vågå and Lom.

12. Hurrungane (Western Jotunheimen)
- This is Norway's classical climbing area, opened by C.W. Slingsby (British)in the late 1800's. The mountains are alpine in character, with numerousglaciers and narrow ridges. Rock quality is generally good. Ridge routes ofvarying difficulty and length (including snow & ice). Walls up to750m, with long free routes (grade VI-VII). Some mixed routes (grade V-VI).In addition numerous shorter routes of varying difficulty (grade II-VII).Most approaches require glacier crossing. In addition to offering excellentsummer mountaineering, the area holds great potential for winter climbingand ski mountaineering. The area has some miserable weather, so "full-conditions" climbing is often the only alternative.

13. Bergen
- Lot of climbing routes at Øygaarden, Laksevåg and Sotra ofall grades. Sotra has 150 routes on 15 different walls.600 m high wall at Vetletind in Uskedalen

14. Stavanger
- Many local crags. Big walls 500-1000 m high a few hours drive from Stavanger; Tau Hunnedalen, Dirdal, Skeisfjell, Espedalen, Kjerag.

- Granite walls up to 700 m, offers some of Norways bestslab climbing, but also crack and face climbs.

16. Nissedal/Fyresdal
- Granite walls up to 700m high. Lots of routes of all grades on 19different walls. Mostly slab climbing although Hægefjellcontains crack and face climbs including aid routes.

17. Oslo
- Lots of local crags with routes 1-3 pitches long. Biggest area isKolsås with over 200 routes of all grades. Other areas include Hauktjern,Fjell, Grefsenkollen, and Vardåsen.

18. Andernatten in Eggedal
19. Hemsedal
- A traditional rock climbing area, with numerous routes located on goodquality gneisses. Routes are 3-10 pithes, grades IV-VII, some aid routes.Hemsedal is known for its ice-climbs (waterfall-ice). Routesfrom grade III to VI (Scottish grading). Potential for mixed climbing,wintertime, is terrific, though few seem to realize that.
