Metropolis

Metropolis was the big breakthrough in Norway. The album sold close to platinum, and the first single ended up passing platinum with a good margin. Metropolis was their most accessable record to date, but still very Seigmen. Their appeal expanded to include the more mainstream audience. Sylvia Massy was once again in charge of the production with Todd Burke as assistant engineer. This time the whole recording was done in LA, Sylvia's home town. The main recording studio, Grandmaster Recorders, was the same one used to capture Tool´s record «Undertow». The fact that two versions were made (Norwegian and English), led to a very tight schedule (see Metropolis - the Grandmaster Recordings). This is the first record featuring Kim on lead vocals (Sort disippel). It's also the first release where a picture of the band can be found. The image on the cover is taken from Fritz Lang´s masterpiece, the silent movie «Metropolis» from 1928.
