Facts about YL

If you are not a radio amateur the two letter word YL will not tell you anything. As to the letters word OM would. But to start off the two letters word YL means Young Lady or Young Ladies. This tells the hams that it is women operating ham radio. OM on the other hand is short for Old Man or Old Men, meaning it is a man on the radio. So in the amateur radio world we women will forever stay young ladies, while the men are old men even being young. So for us women it pays to be a radio amateur.
Another thing about YL hams is that we usually greet eachother with 33. Have you ever thought about how this 33 has com to be used. Well click here and read this and perhaps you will understand.
