EMIGRATION FROM KRAGERØ / SANNIDAL / SKÅTØY  1843 -1899

NEW WORK TEMPORARY CLOSED DOWN!

I have stopped all work with this page for the time being. I am only one person, and this point I have just too much to do.

However, if you have any information to send to me, I will sooner or later be able too use it! I will be continuing this project.

As a little bonus, I have put here on web, the file making the basis for this work. This covers the years 1843 - 1899. This

is a RTF file, which can be read by most word processors. It's in Norwegian but it should be easy to understand.

DOWNLOAD FILE - 1843 - 1899.

The area now called Kragerø consists of the earlier districts : Kragerø, Sannidal and Skåtøy. I have chosen to treat them as one, because the borders between where very floating, and nowadays everybody thinks about the whole area when Kragerø is mentioned.

This is an alphabetical index year-by-year. You will not only find emigration to the U.S., but also to other places as :         Canada and Australia.

Why have I put this information out on the web ?

I hope to, in the not so distant future, to make a book about these people and where they went. To completely check every person back in Norway and where they came is impossible to do. I can manage to take care of the Norwegian side, but not the other. Therefore I beg for help with this. If you have Information to share with me, I will be very grateful.
