UCB Mapping

UnConverted Bump Mapping (image1 Image2 Image3 )
Double layer UCB test Image

Poser is incapable of proper Bump Mapping, instead it uses a Fake Embossed effect,
this effect can be used for a lot more than bad bump mapping, but to do that you have to
get around posers BUM conversion routine, this is how you do it on a PC.

Open up: Poser, Explorer (the file manager not the Net browser)
and Photoshop (or some other paint prog).

1. load a image into Photoshop use save as and select .BMP

2. Go to Explorer and locate the file, rename the file to Filename.BUM

3. Enter Poser, (make sure Bump mapping is ON), select a figure,
enter the Materials menu and add the BUM as a bump map, now you can render.

FYI: BUM is a 2* 8 bit grayscale format (uses 24bit color) Red RGB layer controls
sideways light control, Green RGB layer controls up and down light control,
Blue just sits there and do nothing (as far as I know).
(You can use 8 bit grayscale images if you want to, it's saves space)

Mid gray is no effect, pure white is max effect pure black is max apposite effect.
With light coming from above white adds shadow to the model
while black lightens partly shaded parts, light from below gives the apposite effect.
