General Notes:
She began her training as a nurse at Alexandra College, Crowstone Road, Westcliff, Essex, England. She was a State Registered nurse and South Benfleet's district nurse and midwife from 1924 until she retired 27 years later in about 1951. During this time she had helped 704 local babies into the world. She worked in Kennington, London before returning to Benfleet as a private midwife early in 1925. She was "nationalized" when the Nation Health Scheme was introduced in 1948. When she was 60 she was presented with an electric blanket, a television, a radiation lamp and £6. Electricity had to be laid on in her cottage so that she could use these gifts! She worked together with Dr. Eaton for 18 years. She had a breakdown when she was 60. All three sisters were in nursing. She never married - spinster.
When Kathleen was poorly, my mother went down to Somerset and looked after her for a week, but had to return home as I was going into hospital. It was then that Mary travelled down to Somerset to look after Kath. On the train journey down, a suitcase fell off the rack and hit Mary on the head. About one week later, while still in Somerset, she died. Chas helped to arrange for her body to be brought home to Benfleet for burial. The family believe that this accident caused her death.
Although she was not really allowed to, she delivered Eunice Marion's children. A nursemaid by the name of Mrs. Valentine (friend of Mary and Eunice) used to help. Mum can remember the song she used to sing.

According to Stibbards:
Dear Mr Gothard Thank you for your letter dated 20th November 2005. I apologise for the length of time it has taken me to reply.
I have done some research in our records regarding your inquire for the History of the Revell family with ourselves. I unfortunately have only been able to find a small amount of information of the family which is listed below.
I also visited St Mary's churchyard in Benfleet in hopes of finding some more information regarding the inscription on the memorials but unfortunately, although I found the area of the graves, there are no longer any memorials there. In terms of the receipt for the inscription we have no records showing what that inscription was.
I did find some information on funerals regarding the Revell family Sarah Elizabeth Revell (whose address matches that of your great-aunt Mary) died in March 1951 and was buried in grave 230 the same grave as Mary at St Mary's Benfleet.
We also under took the funeral for Catherine Revell who passed away in 1966 and was buried in St Katherine's Churchyard Canvey.
There is also reference to a Dora Elizabeth Revell who passed away in 1979 and was a resident in Shoeburyness Essex.
I hope this information is of use to you and will help you in your effort to locate your relations.
I wish you the best of luck with your search Paul Stibbards S Stibbards and Sons
