| We are in Italy, south of a town called Ancona, at the cost of the Adriatic. This beautiful coast region is named Riviera del Conero. Here the rocks are precipitous, but calm, wide and white beaches do apply to a Scandinavian. This picture is taken from the modern part of town, called Marcelli. The beaches give full service and have all the necessities, which make you relax and feel comfortable for a day or more. Along the beach you will find several restaurants, so a good meal is never far away. There are many typical pizzerias, which can offer a low-prized tasteful pizza. On the picture above you can also catch a glimpse of the old Numana, with narrow streets and these charming, special stairs. This is where you really feel the genuine Italian small town atmosphere. |

| The stairs seem long and it is hardwork upstairs on a hot summer's day. Concerning the stairs we are not speaking about a modern escalator. No, this is stairs made of plain stone. But something unexpected may happen. These children for instance had a good time in the shadow. Where did they get their inspiration? |
However, if this is the place for you, I have
to recommend a trip. In the end of June the water is appropriate for swimming. After a few
hours in the sun, you will feel comfortable staying in the shadowy oases. There is
enough room under the parasols. The beach is not crowded by Italian families either. The
summer season does not start until later for the natives. In other words, it is an
excellent recreation walking on these inviting, almost deserted beaches. The ground here
consists of small round-shaped stones, which massage the Scandinavian feet. Believe it or
not, the treatment is all free. |
| How to get here? The best and perhaps the most interesting way is simply to use your private car. A trip from Seefeld in Austria, via Lake Garda (a good stop here!) and down to Numana, is done on less than a day. On your way home you can spend your time on roads not meant for tourists (use glasses checking the map!). But try these roads! You will be surprised! You do not mind living to see life, as life should be lived, do you? |
