This is a picture of my youngest daughter and me.
I live in Ringsaker, where I also grew up. At the age of 19, I left for Skien, to work a year at Telemark Sentralsjukehus, the hospital there. Then I went abroad, to Dublin, Ireland, to study medicine at The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Returning home six years later,I did my internship at Hamar Hospital. To get back into things, I joined Hamar Domkor, the local church choir. This was a decision with far-reaching consequences. I met the organist Roger Andreassen. We eventually got married and now have four daughters and a dog named Bertil. He is a Dalmatian. We live in the area where we both grew up.
After finishing my internship, I worked some years with Occupational Medicine, first in Moelv, then in Gjøvik. The Occupational Medicine service in Gjøvik was one of the first in the country to utilize EDB in their work, and developed one of the first software packages for Occupational Medicine. I took part in developing and expanding this, and learned enough to make my own software when I took up General Practice in 1988. This was used until 1994, when I had a locum for almost two years. Firstly because of having a baby, and secondly to do a hospital rotation. Understandably, this caused a lack of software support.. I started up again late in 1995, and qualified as a specialist in Family Medicine in May 1996.
Brøttum Legesenter is a double practice, my partner is dr.Tom Halvorsen. In the same house is a physiotherapist and a well-baby clinic.
In my spare time, I like cooking and gardening. My computer takes up some of my spare time, too. Internet is fascinating, and being a mother of four girls I think it is good for them to demystify this, and not think this is something only the boys do. In the last couple of years I have also started singing again, as my local church has started a small choir. We are hoping to grow! Quite recently, I have also started a small vocal ensemble - Cantarelle- with eight other ladies.
For medical resources on the net, I shall not try to compete with Finn Skogstad's helseweb.
For good recipes I would like to recommend Mimi's Cyberkitchen.
Here are some people I know on the net who have made their own homepages:
