This is mainly a collection of photos showing some of those
Rhododendrons og Azaleas I have collected in my own garden in Bergen, Norway
(at 60 deg. north)
.
A selection of 39 plants are shown, mainly close-ups of trusses, and in some cases the whole plant.
This collection is not based on any scientific system, but more on a desire to have a variety of colours to choose from when composing the garden as a whole. The photo of each plant is accompanied by a short description stating size, time of blossom, hardiness and origins. Origins are given as 'Mother ' x 'Father'. Names in italics denote natural growing species, while names in 'quotation marks' denote crossed plants (hybrids).
I have also included a few photos taken at The Norwegian Arboretum at Milde, Bergen.
For those wishing to study this subject more comprehensively, there is a
variety of literature, even though all is not
available in the nearest bookstore.
A good starting point for learning more about growing rhododendrons can be found here at The American Rhododendron Society .
