Marion`s Norwegian Garden

My home

I appreciate you visiting my page, and I hope you will take time to look at some of the photos I have taken. The photos with the link underneath are the first pictures I placed on my page.1998 I took a lot of new photos and resized them to make the page load faster. The quality of the small photos is reduced, so if you would like to get a better view, please click on the thumbnails. I am currently taking new photos to improve my page, so please come back if you enjoy gardening.
My home is in Molde, a small town at the westcoast of Norway at about 63 degrees north, and my garden is about 1500 squaremeters surrounding my house. I have a lot of old trees, birchs, pines, piceas, spruces, querqus, and many evergreen bushes, chamaecyparis, bamboo, ilex, juniperus, taxus, thuja, which means that parts of my garden are shadowed. My selection of flowers are therefore limited, but from early spring till late autumn flowering bulbs, annuals, perennials and flowering bushes lighten up between the evergreens.
At the bottom of the page you will find some links

I have 3 varieties of Meconopsis (grandes, betonicifolia and horridula). This picture shows Meconopsis Grandes

Even if Meconopsis "the blue papaver" is magnficent, it can´t beat the shining red Papaver orientale

Papaver Orientale
Mahonia aquifolium is a wintergreen bush, covered with yellow flowers in May. Later dark blue berries. It thrives and blooms excellent in shadow

The hedge around part of my garden, Prunus Laur. "Otto Luyken", is covered with white flowers in summer and black berries in winter

The most beautiful of all my flowers are my grandchildren

Pictures taken in September, October and November1998
I grow raspberries, currents, black currents and gooseberries and this plumtree (Opal). It is a pity I didn`t take the time to thin it, the plums didn`t taste as good as usual !

Opalplums
This picture of colchicum
(in Norway we call it "Naked Virgin")
was taken September 24th. It grows under
an old Chamaecyparis Notkaensis Pendula

Oct. 9th this wonderful butterfly (Red Admiral) visited my Cimicifuga ramosa. Part of its wings is spotted in white and thus got blended with the background

Asters offer a wide variety of colors and flower types in annuals and perennials, this photo shows a perennial called "Starlight"
