| I just want to say hello and thanks to some of my friends and people who I have met through my "journey in the blues world". |
| Liv "Livelig" Inger | What a beautiful girl!!! My dearest! She sings and plays like a Princess!! I met her a few months back (autumn '08) when I attend a party for those who volunteered to help Blues In Hell (festival in the middle of Norway). I met her when she challenged to a pool-match! I won the match, but we both "won" each other! Will never forget this wonderful evening! |
| I have been familiar with Mr. Tore Røsbjørgen since the early 80's. He was already then known for his huge interest and knowledge about music. Many might consider him a bit "crazy", buying all the music. In '86 I started working in a local radio station and suggested that the radio should use him as a DJ on blues and blues related music. He soon started a program called "Blått Brygg". Something like "Blue Brew" in English. Since then we have shared many cops of coffe and beers. We have spent lots of money on music, but what the heck. Thanx to you, Mr. Blues Train! Do your self a favor - Check his great site! |
| Morten "Tarzan" Eggen |
Lots of karsk (coffee & strong moonshine) and blues for about 20 years! He is a veteran bass player and vocalist. He has played in local groups called Black Cat Bones and Jumpin' Jerry & The Blue Healers. There he used to be teamed up with three young blues enthusiasts: Hans Bollandsås/Jumpin' Jerry (guitar, vocals), Arnstein "Big Horn" Solem (sax, vocals) and Kenneth Kapstad (great drummer). The band played jump blues in the vein of Brian Setzer Orchestra. Morten has been asked now and then to tour with Otis Grand in the U.K.! |

Petter, Trine & Jon Marius |
He never know which pocket he keeps his money... He is playing bass in a rootsrock band called The Magpies. What about your own band site guys... Trine is a fantastic lady who also loves good music. She's in for Eric Sardinas and Guy Forsyth. Not bad! Jon Marius is their son. One year in January 2004! I will do all I can to "teach" him The Blues! |
| Sturla
Bogen |
A true blueslover. Fan of The Late Great Roy Buchanan. |
| Christian
Bakken |
The Mountain King. Like me he is a fan of The Brandos. We have shared some great experiences on Cruise Cafe in Oslo (1993-1996) - Mickey Jupp, Nick Lowe, The Brandos... Thanx for all the PC support! |
| Heidi
"Hey Di" Bakken |
The oldest sister of The Mountain King. She's to "blame" for the picture of me with the handkerchief on the head. As her brother she's also a fan of Brandos, but as far as I know she missed their last gig in Oslo. Didn't you, Heidi? LOL |
| Rune
Slettaas |
The Midnighter. Thanx for all the PC support! He is also a huge fan of Alice Cooper, Tea Party and similar bands. |
| Geir
"The Magpie" Engan |
Guitar player in The Magpies. He used to be the front man in Black Cat Bones (the Norwegian act!). Thanx for doin' the blues. In addition to be music lover, he's also extremely into football. There is this team from east in England called Ipswich?! Who the f...k knows what kind of team this is... LOL. Take a look at a typical player from this team... |
| Bård "Don't Get Bored" Moen |
A close friend. We have shared lots of music through the years. He's a huge fan of Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes. In the mid-80's he was in a band called "Crispo". They wasn't too good...(he-he). |
| Charles
"Chas" Lockwood |
Have met him through internet. Thanks to him for being such a huge fan of pubrock - and now a devoted fan of Hank Shizzoe. Thanks for sending me Rod Piazza/The Flying Chicago Saucer Band. |
Rolf
"BluesBeard" Johannesen & Kristin "BluesLady"
Nygård |
Rolf & Kristin are to wonderful people I have met several times through our interest for the BLUES. I will never forget the nachspiel at Lillehammer Bluesfestival when they had a big suite at the festival hotel! Check out the photos here... |
| The
Blues Sisters |
The Blues Sisters are Oddrun Vågbø and her daughter Hanne-Marthe. Wonderful people who is diggin' the blues! Oddrun is also the leader of Skedsmo Bluesclub, Lillestrøm, Norway. Happy 50th. Anniversary 05.01.2008!! |
| Svein
"BluesFrame" Andersen & Solveig "Miss Road Block"
Langnes |
I met Svein for the first time in 2001 when he arranged a bluestrip to Austin and New Orleans. Since then I have met him and his girlfriend Solveig several times travelling Norway and Sweden for bluesfestivals. In 2002 we went to this great bluesfestival in Sweden - a place called Åmål. You have to check it out! Well, I can't tell you all the secrets from the parties over there, but I do have a couple with Solveig involved... There was something about a road block that she didn't spot! There must also have been bad food where we stayed over 'cause she had to throw up one night... Solveig - are you satisfied with these nice words... LOL PS! Check this link for some fun - "In The Jungle Of Åmål". |
| Others |
Ellen "Ella Fitzgerald" Lund, Steffen "Chicken Shack" Hope, Oddrun Vågbø, Helge Helmersen (former leader of Trondheim Bluesclub), Karl "Jazz Man" Fremo, Bjørn Ketil Hovin, Kolbjørn Flå, Frode & Tore Hovin (aka The Blues Twins). My brother Per "POBEN" Bye. Arne Ivar & Grethe (fans of Brandos). |
| Kurt
"Mouthharp" Hanssen |
Hailing from this small town, Steinkjer, a bit north in Norway, he's still crazy after his Blues. He's dipping his head mostly in the Blues from the Twenties and Thirties. We running' into each other at bluesfestivals all over Norway and it's all about "wine, women & whisky". Isn't it, Kurt... |
Hugo
"The BluesBoss" Wiklund |
Nag, nag! (",)! Finally BluesBoss, you're on my friends list! He's a great guy who works a lot at Lillehammer Bluesfestival and Lillehammer Roots & Country Festival. There he's responsible for the festival's volunteers and back stage which he handles fantastic. The artist love this remarkable man! See ya around! |
Jan
"The Blues General" Engen |
Jan is The Boss of Nidaros Bluesfestival in Trondheim, Norway. A great festival which has had lots of great artists through the years. This year Mr. Solomon Burke headed the festival! Sorry Jan, but I just had to do it! Here you have a nice photo of Mr. Engen... |

| Interested in Norwegian progressive rock? Magne Røskaft knows it! |
| A blues club far north in Norway. Through my website and as a fan of Mojo Blues Band I got in touch with another fan, Mr. Freddy "MBB" Iversen from Kjøpsvik. He was searching for information and releases by the band and found my site. I am pleased to tell that I got a couple of CD's "MBB" was looking for directly from Erik Trauner. | |
For a few years now I have had the pleasure to meet a guy by the name of Arild "The Music Man" Jensen from Bodø, Norway. As me, his interested in a variety of music, but the main genres might be blues and progrock. When we meet the hours run away. It's music talk to the bitter end... He's running a progrock club with some friends called RPRK, which stands for Reinsletta Progrock Club. Friends meeting for some music - and some beers maybe... The picture is from one of their trips to London. Keep On Movin' & Groovin', lads! |
This is Johan from Sweden who runs a great site of links to great artists such as Steve Gibbons. As far as I know he loves ROCK 'N' ROLL. Do yourself a favour and check out the site!
| I
can't list all the artist I know and enjoy listening to 'cause that's
a lot! This is just a small selection... |
| Great prog from Hungary. | |
| Former member of The Blasters. I'm a fan both of The Blasters and his solo works. |
| I met him at Molde Jazz Festival 2001. A great guy and he is playing the kind of blues that wouldn't become "boring". He has been playing with Big Town Playboys, but now he is back with his own band. Next time he comes to a club near you - be there! |
| She's a blues guitar picker. Sometimes she also has a more "poppy" side. In the early days she recorded an album with Stefan Grossman "How To Play Blues Guitar". The album came with tables. Nothing for me though! This is what Grossman said about the project: "Aurora Block and myself were very involved in this study. We spent much time listening to old 78's as well as spending many joyous hours with such legendary bluesmen as Mississippi John Hurt, Eugene "Son" House, Nehemiah "Skip" James, Reverend Gary Davis, Fred McDowell and Mance Lipscomb. The result of these years is the foundation for my five volume series entitled COUNTRY BLUES GUITAR". |

Finally (February 2003) B'n'T has an official website! I have been waiting for this for a long time! My all-time favourite band! |
| I am a fan! Great Americana. They have two fan sites, one in Germany and one in Holland. David Kincaid is half Irish. He has been searching his roots through the Irish history and has released a CD called "The Irish Volunteer". This one is worth every penny!! If I'm not totally lost the guys are influenced by Creedence Clearwater Revival. |
| Yes! It's not often to meet such a warm and personal artist. Both Duffy and her band were really nice when I met them at Lillehammer Bluesfestival 2002. Duffy Bishop Band had a tremendous set with Duffy walking off and on stage continiously singing among the audience. A great voice - and I have to admit she was sexy too in a red, tight dress...Her blues is a mix of different styles. So far she has released three CD's. The rumour says there excists a live album... |
| Clarke, Mick/Killing Floor/Lou Martin | If you're into bluesrock this is something for you. Mick Clarke has been in the business since the the 60's. He started out (I guess) with the group Killing Floor together with Lou Martin. Martin used to be in the Rory Gallagher's backing band in the mid-70's. Killing Floor has a new album out now called "Zero Tolerance". Clarke/Martin released in 1997 an acoustic album called "Happy Home" on Burnside Records (BCD0026-2). On June 5th, 2004, Mick Clarke will be playing at Bragdøya Bluesfestival (Kristiansand). Do yourself a favour and check out his website! |
| He used to play in Mojo Blues Band. Check my site on the group. Blues spiced with Zydeco- and Mississippi-releated tunes. |
| THE Pubrocker. No more words necessary. |
| Austin's most famous blues/roots band. Kim Wilson in person is amazing. Teamed up with a hot guitar player - Kid Ramos - and a steady back up it can't go wrong. I saw them live in Trondheim (1999). Band: Kim Wilson (vocals, harmonica), Kid Ramos (vocals, guitar), Stephen T. Hodges (former James Harman Band) and Willie J. Campbell (former James Harman Band). |
| She fascinates me, though she ain't a great vocalist. She's one of the youngsters from Antone's in Austin. |
| Just great music. |
| Dirty slide guitar! You can see me on his site - a photo from a blues cruise in Gjøvik, Norway. |
| Henderson, Bugs | If you want some rockin' Texas blues. Check him out! He has been in the business for decades, but for most of you he might be unknown... |
| Hodgkinson, Colin | THE bass player from U.K. I have never seen and heard search bass playing. He uses his bass like a guitar. His version of "32-20 Blues" (on bass) is just unbelievable. In the early 70's he got a band called Back Door. No guitars! |
| Acoustic country blues from Austin. Nice guy! |
| Fantastic voice! She's as powerful as Maggie Bell and Janis Joplin. Bluesy rock. |
| Jolly Jumper & Big Moe | This is a Norwegian Blues duo who know got their own CD out on the German label Ruf Records (see link below). The guys are mainly into pre-war blues from the 20's and 30's. Exceptional playing with tons of humour! |
| Clifford Antone signed her in the early 90's. She has helluva past. Stripper, pornstar...She doesn't swipe anything under the carpet. She's honest about her past. She mixes different kinds of blues. The CD-releases don't justify her strong and powerful voice. Live she's unbelievable. If you're lucky she might play piano with her boobs... |
| Mike's Blue Groove | This is a Swedish blues band from Umeå. I met these guys at Nidaros Bluesfestival 2002. They were at the festival as guests so I didn't got the opportunity to hear them live. Rumours say they are good! Check their site for further information. The harmonica player - Mikke Nilsson - is, as I, a pubrock fan and in particular Mickey Jupp. He's also the leader of Umeå Rhythm & Bluesförening. |
| A famous Irish folk-artist. I just love his accent and music. |
| Great prog! |
| Noise Pollution Bluesband | A Norwegian bluesband inspired by The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Roar Solbakken is a mean man on the piano. As far as I know they don't have a website, but they can be reached on the following email: rsolbakken@hamstad.no. |
| For all the music lovers out there - Music by Tom Petty is a must! Tom Petty, Southside Johnny, Little Steven, Bruce Springsteen = Asbury Park... |
| Check Mr. Blues Train's homesite for reviews on her music. Her real name is Goldie Selkovitz. She has also released an album under this name. If you're interested in her music you will be able to buy a CD from her site. |
| Slide, slide, slide. He produced John Lee Hooker's "comeback" album "The Healer". |
| Acoustic blues guitarist. His releases are available at Burnside Records. Ask for Susan (the promotion lady) and she will gladly give her recommendations. |
| If you love AC/DC this is a must! Maybe better... |
| The Swedish answer to Rockpile. Billy Bremner (former guitarist in Rockpile) was a member of the band for awhile. |
| Folk-rock from Ireland. One of my favourites in this genre. |
| Southside Johnny is some of the first artist I got to know. He got a charasmatic stage personallity. I love his music. Southside Johnny, Tom Petty, Little Steven, Bruce Spring-steen = Asbury Park... |
| Former guitarist in The Nighthawks. He now got several releases with his own band The Drivers. |
| This is rough rock from Canada, with Eastern influences. Yes! |
| Lovely lady with a lovely voice. Her latest CD is acoustic blues. Check Mr. Blues Train's homesite for reviews on her music. Thanks to Karen for the CD she sent Tore Røsbjørgen and me. |
| Who is he? Just kidding! |
| A tremendous blues band from Odda (Norway). They can be reached on the following email: vetrhus@online.no. PS! The drummer Terje Ramsdal is a devoted fan to Blues 'n' Trouble! | |
| He has played piano, organ and accordion with "everyone". Do search for albums by Balham Alligators. Great cajun/zydeco-stuff. A Swedish guy has an unofficial site where nearly all the Watkins' session work is listed. |
| Watson, Junior | Legendary blues guitarist. I'm not sure, but I think he started his career playing with Rod Piazza. Since then he has played mostly behind others. So far he got only one solo album - "Long Overdue". He has played with Rod Piazza and Honey Alexander in bands like Chicago Flying Saucer Band and The Mighty Flyers. |
| Mr. Boogie Woogie from Austria. |
| Man, the internet connection have caused me lots of trouble. Where do I start and stop searching and buying music...I need some money - and fast! Here you have some reliable and very good vendors. I can with all my heart recommend Cross Cut Records and Red Lick Records. In Norway Cruisin' Records won't disappoint you! |
| Cruisin' Records | Rune Halland is runnin' the best blues/roots/rock'n'roll mail order company in Norway. He has finally got his own website (November 2003). Searchin' for odd artists, just give him a call! The only problem - it's in Norwegian. |
| German mail order company. They have nothing else than blues. An amazing company with a huge selection of all kind of blues, both acoustic and electric. I have used this company for years. Fast delivery and reliable. They also have their own releases. Top two! |
| British mail order company. Mostly blues, but also a jazz section. An amazing company with a huge selection of all kind of blues. I have used this company for years. Fast delivery and reliable. Their catalogue has a different lay out since you have to search for the labels and not the artists, but still - Top two! 01.05.2007 - BAD NES! Red Lick Records are closing down after all most 30 years in the business. The company will be sadly missed!!! Has for years been the best in the business!!! |
| German mail order company. All kind of roots music. Great! |
| German mail order company. All kind of roots music. Great! |
| Norwegian mail order company. Lots of rock and progressive rock. Keep up the good work, Odd! |
| A traditional online-shop. I have used them some times. Reliable. |
| A German online-shop. You might be able to find some goodies here...I have found some rarities by searching their site. |
| The best Norwegian online-shop. |
| This is the German Amazon.shop. You also have an American version - www.amazon.com and a British one - www.amazon.co.uk. From Norway the cheapest one is Amazon.de. |
| This a company from Belguim who deals with records on fairs and by mail. |
| Here
you have some record companies listed... |
| A famous blues club located in Austin, Texas. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Vaughan, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Lou Ann Barton, Angela Strehli, Denny Freeman, Derek O'Brien, George Rains, Candye Kane, Steve James - just to name a few. |
| This is a Swedish record company and records shop owned by Per-Olov Ljungbergh. |
| Blues and nothin' but blues! |
| They are located in Portland, Oregon. I met some of their artist at Lillehammer Bluesfestival 2002 - Terry Robb, Too Slim Langford and Duffy Bishop and her band, Susan ("The Promotion Girl"). Really nice people. If you need some recommendations from the label's catalogue, ask Susan, who's doing the promotion. I'm sure she will be just happy to help you. Sideburn Records might have more countrystuff than the main label. I received Countrypolitans - too much country for me - and Tommy Womack. This is what the magazine No Depression has said about Mr. Womack: "His songs draw from folk and country filtered through a rocker's heart". |
| Jazz 'n' blues. James Harman's latest releases are on this label. |
| As far as I know quite a new label. Worth checkin' out. |
| An "old" label. Famous for their blues 'n' roots music. |
| Ruf Records | A German label with mainly blues artists. Their catalogue includes names like: Bernhard Allison, Luther Allison, Larry Garner, Canned Heat, The Nighthawks, Jolly Jumper & Big Moe plus others. |
| Americana, blues, country/western, folk/acoustic guitar, gospel, Irish/Celtic, jazz, jewish/klezmer, latin/salza, New Orleans/cajun, reggae, rock/pop, r&b, ska, world. Artists: Sue Foley, Stefan Grossman, Sleepy John Estes, Rev. Gary Davis, Pinetop Perkins, Popa Chubby, Duke Robillar. Just to name a few... |
| Great blues label with Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers on top. |
| An Austrian label with lots and lots of old and new blues. May of the releases by Dana Gillespie are on this label. |
| They are not doing much blues stuff, but more rock and folk stuff. For instance XTC and Jackie Leven. As a member you will receive a free CD a year and you will be granted discounts on some of their releases. I wonder when they are going to release the promised box-set by DOLL BY DOLL (The early Jackie Leven band)... |
| Scottish label with folk music. |
| Italian label. They have some amazing rereleases on vinyl and CD. The vinyls often come with thick fold-out covers and 180 gram. I have just bought Maxophone "Maxophone" and Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes "Live! At The Paradise Theater" from this label. Fantastic! |
| French label. Old and new progressive music. |
| Progressive music. |
| In the same category as Second Battle and Akarma, but they mostly they are doing CD's. I think Repertoire Records was one of the first companies who started to rerelease classic rock from the 60's and 70's, for instance sought-after items from the Vertigo label. Sadly, their early CD-releases are hard to find now. |
| German prog label. Compared to Akarma they have been in the business for some years. Their main task is also to rerelease records legally. No counterfaits! The records come in amazing sleeves. |
| An Austrian Jazz label. I'm not too familiar with their catalogue, but I have to thank them by linking them up on my site. I was searching for Oscar Klein "Live At The San Marion Jazzfestival" because Dana Gillespie participates on this one and I found their link through internet. When I asked them if the release was in stock they said: "What's your address"? Suddenly I got the CD by mail together with another CD - jsut for free! Thanks a lot! |
| An amazing search engine for all kind of music. You're unlucky if you can't find what you're seaching for. |
| This is Christer & Vanja Friedhammar's (from Sweden) site on BLUES. They say it's their hobby, but what about time to work! They have done a tremendous job on this site. You can information and links to artists from everywhere. It's a tough job to get through all the info they have put out - worth every second, though! | |
