After a stay in Japan from 1987 to 1995, Japanese art
and culture will always be of great importance to my work.
Textile and dress traditions, fashion, performing arts,
calligraphy, handmade paper, origami, architecture, philosophy
and religion are fields of study and inspiration.
With experience from fashion, costumes, wearable art and
objects my works has gradually moved towards textile sculpture
and installation. Textile as a material has great potential
and in each project I examine new possibilities.
It is a challenge to create three-dimensional free-standing
works in a relatively soft and fragile material.
In the column project (2002-2004), 3 meter high pillars
exhibited alone, in groups or as installations give associations
to body and movement.
Integrating the space and its characteristics as
part of the final result opens for other contexts.
My intention is to evoke experiences that are both
emotional and mental.
