Everton Football Club

I've supported Everton ever since I saw them playing Liverpool in the FA Cup final in 1986. It's hard to put a finger on what makes them so special. Sure we - yes I refer to them as we - won the League twice, the FA Cup and the European CWC during a fantastic 3 year spell in the 80'ies. However since then we have just won one trophy, the FA Cup in 1995. Not that this was the best moment I've had as a supporter - that was the season before as we survived relegation on the last day of the season, beating Wimbledon 3-2.

A picture of me in the players tunnel at Goodison Park.

Being one of the founders of the English Football League Everton are rich on tradition. Names like William Ralph 'Dixie' Dean, Joe Mercer, Alan Ball, Howard Kendall, Neville Southall, Kevin Sheedy, Andy Gray and Graeme Sharp should be familiar to most. We've won the League 9 times, the FA Cup 5 times. Our home, Goodison Park has over the years been regarded as one of the best stadiums around. However when other clubs took uge steps forward by either building new stadiums or redevelop their old during the 90'ies Everton really stood still due mainly to money problems.

I attended Everton-Leicester on the 3'rd of January 2000. So I have one claim to fame - I attended the very first Everton match of the new millennium! The result, a 2-2 draw wasn't much to speak of, but to actually be there in the stands was a fantastic feeling. I sat in the lower stand of the Bullens Road.

My favorite Everton player of all time is Joe Parkinson. A though tackling midfield-player giving his all in every game - he was part of the famous 'Dogs of war' during the middle 90'ies.
