I have always been interested in astronomy and it didn't take long before I wanted to image what I saw in the eyepiece. My favorite objects are the planets, especially Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Unfortunately I live in Norway where the planets rarely rise high in the sky and seeing is fair most of the time. I'm not too bothered by light pollution but I do have some local streetlights I try to avoid. On a really good night I reach a visual magnitude of about 6+.

My backyard "observatory" consists of a permanent 2x2 wooden pier and my old Vixen Super Polaris mount. My main telescope is a Celestron C8A-XLT Schmidt-Cassegrain (203/2032mm SCT), a modest telescope by today's standards. The telescope is great but suffers quite a bit from mirror flop so I added a JMI motofocus to help with critical focus when imaging.

In early 2009 I bought a DMK21 mono camera and a set of Astrodon Tru-Balance LRGB filters to replace my Philips 840K and SPC900 webcams. Soon after I added an Orion manual filter wheel to make life a little easier...
