Personal Profile

My name is Andreas Lund.

I am a Research Fellow at the University of Oslo, Department of Teacher Training and School Development.

I have worked on several projects involving information technology, designing learning models for the Norwegian Educational Network ("Skolenettet"), internationalism in the classroom and interdisciplinary approaches to language learning and teaching. My main interest these days is in the role of the teacher in a technology-rich learning environment, especially net-based learning and virtual worlds.

I do a lot of courses, lectures and workshops, and have worked for The Council of Europe and national authorities on several projects on ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and language learning.

My background as a teacher has made me fairly pragmatic regarding pedagogics, but I believe a sociocultural perspective and Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) are interesting approaches.

guitar1guitar2 On a more personal level, I am interested in music of all types with a particular love for blues, rhythm'n blues and Jimi Hendrix Another persistent love is The Mothers of Invention/Frank Zappa and the Fugs. Still, most fascinating band ever: Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band.

I have a particular interest in American crime fiction in the Hammett/Chandler tradition by e.g. Elmore Leonard, Charles Willeford, Walter Mosley, James Crumley, Jon A. Jackson, James Ellroy, James Lee Burke, James W. Hall, Carl Hiaasen, and many others. Special honors to James Sallis and Chester Himes.

But I was raised on Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs. (I wonder why that slightly distorted view of the world rings more true than others.)

Private stuff: I'm married, three kids: 24, 20, 17, and a dog named Duke - a Basset Fauve de Bretagne.
